Moderator Mardi Tindal's Blog

Did you know that our moderator writes a blog on wondercafe?  You can read it here:   By way of introduction, she writes: "Welcome to my blog—a place to reflect with me on God's abundant healing of soul, community, and creation. I hope you will visit often and be part of this sacred conversation."  You can also follow the RSS feed!

(For those of you who are RSS feed savvy, you can also follow this NewsBlog and the forums on the St. Mark's website.  Contact Webadmin if you have any questions)

On Sunday, January 17th, join us after church for a pizza lunch and viewing/discussion of the film For the Bible Tells Me So by Daniel Karslake (click on the picture for more information).

The film explores how people of faith handle the realization of having a gay child or family member.

Please email office@st-marks or phone 416-439-8623 if you plan to attend.

St. Mark’s is hosting the Out of the Cold at Knox United Church

on the evening of Friday, January 22nd and the morning of January 23rd.

A sign up sheet has been posted for those who would like to volunteer.

On Saturday, January 23rd, from 11 AM to 3 PM, St. Mark’s is working with Curran Hall Community Association, who is hosting Winterfest.

St. Mark's will be collecting food for the Food Bank at the event.

Circle of FriendsA recent partnership between St. Mark’s, Toronto Community Living and Parks, Forestry & Recreation has resulted in a new and successful program for adults aged 30-55 years with an intellectual disability.

On Tuesdays at St. Mark’s, Parks, Forestry and Recreation offers a new program called Circle of Friends, with a focus on life skills in partnership with Toronto Community Living and many of the clients in their Adult Development Program.

The first session of Circle of Friends has just completed.

The participants experienced working with digital cameras, lighting techniques, framing, etc and then went on to make scrapbooks with their photos.

St. Mark’s United Church sponsored the group to a pizza lunch on the last day of the program.

The Christian Education Committee’s adult book study will start with a bang on January 15, 2010 at 7 pm at St. Mark’s.

We have decided on the book: “The Emerging Christian Way”, an anthology of essays about the emerging church. The great thing about this book is that each chapter  stands on its own.  You do not have to read all the other chapters in order to understand any particular one.

It is still not too late to sign up!  Come to one session or come to all.

If you have any questions, catch Rob Peck at church or talk to Carol in the Church Office.
